Your excitement is palpable as your nuptials approach. You’ve waited for this day, and soon it will happen! Is it going to be a summer mountain wedding, or is it going to be like any other outdoor wedding you’ve attended? The former! You want your big day to be special, and the following four tips will point you in the right direction. Let’s dive in!
1. Set the Date and Spread the Word
For most people, summer is a holiday season, especially for people with school-going children. Give potential guests adequate time to plan their attendance. Send out save-the-date cards at least six months before the big date. While you may have your preferred date, remember that 80% of ceremonies happen between May and October, according to The Knot, which means some of your favorite guests are likely to receive other wedding invitations in the same season.
2. Start Late in The Afternoon
The heat is strongest at midday, so you don’t want to keep guests waiting in the punishing heat. A slot in the late afternoon is ideal for the ceremony, followed by dinner at sunset or early evening. This will give you and your guests the full blast of summer nuptials, minus the heat and sweat. Besides, this is a perfect time period to take photos!
3. Choose a Shaded, Cool Venue
You need sources of heat relief, such as shade for an outdoor summer mountain wedding, so be sure there are enough trees around. You might also want to ensure the space can accommodate portable air conditioning systems. If the day is expected to be very hot, have bottles of drinking water for your guests and a couple of towels and buckets of ice on hand.
4. Have a Plan B
Any mountain nuptials will have a gorgeous backdrop. However, always expect the unexpected and plan for it. You will need an indoor backup location in case of a last-minute storm. Most outdoor event planners recommend a plan B venue should it rain on your party!
